Happy Girls: Stamping around a mask

Today I wanted to share a quick technique I used in this 12 x 12 mixed media layout and my November 2017 Clique Kits: Cornucopia. Both the main kit and the Traveler’s Notebook kit are actually still available in the Clique Kits shop! If you would like to pick one up, feel free to use my coupon code GIA10 FOR 10% OFF.

To create this subtle but unique background I started with this stencil, lightly tacked down to my white cardstock with reposition-able adhesive. I positioned the 3 largest butterfly masks in a visual triangle around my page.

For the next step, I used the flower in this stamp set that was very similar in design to the black and white doodled flowers in the 12 x 12 fussy cut paper I was using on this layout. Before removing the stencils, I added in some texture with some copper colored texture paste and a honeycomb stencil. Finally, I sprinkled some diluted watercolor paint (this one from Prima is still available in the shop and this shade of pink coordinates perfectly with the kit papers)

Last, I layered my fussy cut florals, and used a piece of ephemera from the kit as a small but meaningful title for the page. “Happy Girls are the Prettiest.”
