Mixed Media Monday

Today I have a simple and sweet mixed media layout to share using the November 2018 Clique Color Kit. You can watch how I made the background and also how I put together the layout in two short videos on the Clique Kits You Tube channel here and here.

As a scrapbooker who frequently uses mixed media on my layouts I am so thrilled that Clique Kits is now providing this option as an add on to the monthly kits. You can pick up this month’s kit right here.

Stretch a Kit Mixing Kit + Stash

6

Here is a really simple layout using one of the Alexandra Renke papers in the Meadow main kit in combination with some items from my stash. 6×6 Paper pads are great for adding layers of color to matte a photo and add texture to a multilayer design. It can be overwhelming to dig into your stash sometimes and I find it easier to decide on a color palette before doing so. In this case, I was looking for some bright hot pink and orange to tie in the pink tapestry in the photo and the orange and yellow watercolors on the background paper. The Amy Tangerine Hustle & Heart pad from the Clique Kits shop fit the bill exactly! It happens to be on sale right now if you want to pick one up!

The alphabet in the kit is called “light box letters” and they are shaped like the trendy translucent block letters used to spell out words on those very popular signs. They are also made of a translucent vellum and I love the way the background peeks through them. The embellishments in the kit mixed and matched really well with another collection in my stash where I found the tropical bird puffy sticker and the little rosette dimensional sticker (I think this is called Wild Heart by Crate Paper)

Picking up a la carte add ons from the Clique Kits shop allows you to stretch your kit contents even further and saves $$ on shipping! And even if your budget does not allow this don’t forget to shop your stash!

Adventure! Clique Kits July Main Kit Regatta

7

Hi lovely scrapbooking friends! I have another layout to share today using the amazing, inspiring Clique Kits July Main kit! The papers in this kit from Fancy Pants Designs Poolside collection and the Kesi-Art papers coordinate so well. That is the beauty of a curated kit subscription– the job of finding supplies that work together is done for you giving you more time to enjoy the design process!

This is another cut file I used my Scan N Cut machine to create. I love how the kit papers look backing this cut. Here is a close up!

The first thing my daughter did on her visit home from the mainland was jump in the water! She is living and going to college in a place without the ocean nearby and she misses the endless summer and lifestyle of living in paradise! I would be more than thrilled if she moves back to Hawaii once she finishes her degree. I have so many photos of beachy fun and am definitely getting close to killing my July kit with them! Thanks for visiting today!

But first coffee…and donuts

This may not be big news to you on the mainland US, but here on Oahu I am pretty excited because I heard a rumor that Dunkin’ Donuts shops are going to be coming to the island. I love D & D donuts and coffee! For today’s But First Coffee post  I am sharing some cute things new to the Clique Kits shop starting of course with some new donuts!

These cute puffy stickers are adorable! There are 6 to a sheet for only $1.00!

How about these sticky note tabs from Japan! My pick of course- the donuts! (And cupcakes) These are only $3.00 per set while supplies last.

Have you heard of squishies? These donut key chains/planner bling as I call it (stuff to hang from and decorate my planner) are really fun- and just a little squeeze has NO CALORIES or FAT! Yay!

I DO-NUT know if you know this, but Clique Kits has the cutest planner kit still available! It features these small donut sticky notes which double as a hole reinforcer if you have a ring bound planner. The rest of the kit is truly amaze-balls. You can see a really terrific unboxing video here.

And I don’t know if you have been following any of the newest releases from your favorite manufacturers, but Amy Tangerine’s new line called Oh Happy Life! contains this paper:

You can be sure that Clique Kits will be carrying many of the newest scrapbooking products just released as we restock the store after the summer sales. This week I will be heading to Salt Lake City for the SPC Mixed Media trade show and scoping out more new products for Clique Kits!

In the meantime, I came across this coloring challenge on Amy  Tangerine’s blog and really enjoyed the Blog Hop. I have recently played with some coloring on some color-your-own papers and journaling cards myself and I recommend these pencils to get started with ! I think that we will be seeing more coloring designs infiltrating the scrapbooking world! I especially love the idea of stamping freestyle in a travel journal and then coloring them in just to enjoy the process. Travel journals are a great place to get creative in smaller blocks of time, experiment with different media and techniques, and really free yourself to not have to finish a complete project or make everything a masterpiece to enjoy journaling and documenting every day.  I am super excited that Clique Kits is putting together a limited edition travel journal kit right now! It will be available later this summer!

I don’t want to be a spoiler by sharing the contents of the new travel journal kit just yet, so make sure you subscribe to this blog and the Clique Kits blog, and follow Clique Kits on Facebook and Instagram for all the updates! Check out the new stuff added to the Clique Kits store!
